Use your current bat as the reference point
Start with the weight you already swing and describe what feels difficult. If the bat consistently feels hard to accelerate or control, compare one ounce lighter. If it feels very light and you remain comfortable through the zone, compare one ounce heavier. Treat this as a test, not a prescription.
Do not separate weight from comfort
A heavier listed weight does not automatically produce more distance, and a lighter bat does not automatically create better control. Players respond differently to bat mass, load, handle feel and model construction. The useful question is which setup you can swing comfortably and consistently.
Change only one characteristic at a time
When comparing weight, keep load and construction as similar as possible. Swinging a 26 ounce balanced two-piece bat against a 28 ounce end-loaded one-piece bat changes too many variables to isolate weight.
Check certification before buying
League and tournament bat rules can change and may use different accepted stamps. The Bat Fit Finder does not choose a certification. Verify the current requirement directly with the league or event organiser.
